RADIATION PROTECTION EYEWEAR

Lead Glasses

ENQUIRE NOW

The Added Protection You Need

Radiation protection eyewear is recommended to reduce the significant detrimental damage to the lens of the eyes of healthcare professionals who frequently work with x-rays. Consistent exposure to even low dose radiation (LDR) over the course of a career can seriously damage the eyes.

Without proper radiation protection eyewear, cardiologists, radiologists, and other healthcare professionals that work with x-rays put themselves at risk of pre-cataract lesions, cataracts, glaucoma, retinal damage, dry eye, and even blindness. The higher the level of exposure, the higher the risk of damage.

To protect the eyes from radiation, lead glasses should be worn whenever x-ray technology is being used, along with protection for the body, neck and head.

The Best Radiation Protection Eyewear

Uniqa Medical is proud to be able to provide you with lead glasses in a variety of frames from reputable brands such as Oakley, Ray-Ban and Rudy Project. The 0.75mm lenses are made from Corning Med-X Glass which has the highest lead concentration in the industry, blocking radiation to the eyes.

Corning’s Med-X Glass will also not change colour over time like other glass, ensuring your radiation protection eyewear maintains exceptional optical clarity its entire life.

Prescription Lead Glasses

Traditionally it has been difficult to replicate a prescription in lead glasses, but with the advent of innovative prescription software, like Barrier Technologies’ Digital Lens Surfacing system, we are able to provide customers with leaded prescription glasses that have their exact prescription.

This system enables us to provide anti-fatigue Single Vision, high definition BiFocal, and personalised progressive prescription glasses.

By ordering your leaded eyewear from Uniqa Medical, you ensure maximum protection with minimal eye strain.

ClearView Coatings for Optimal Clarity

To ensure that our glasses maintain their position as the best radiation eyewear available, we offer ClearView coatings that enable you to optimise your glasses for your work environment.

You can choose to enhance your glasses with either of the following coatings:

  1. ClearView AR (anti-reflective): cuts the glare and helps you continue working under harsh lights
  2. ClearView ARCFF (anti-reflective fog-free): the benefits of AR whilst also preventing misting and condensation forming on your glasses

The AR coating increases the amount of light passing through the lens from 85% to 99.5%.

ClearView coatings are unique to our range of Barrier Technologies’ leaded eyewear and are an excellent example of their commitment to delivering superior products to the healthcare industry.

Repair and Replacement Services

We appreciate that in a busy hospital environment lead glasses can be dropped and accidentally damaged. Most often when this occurs the fragile leaded glass cracks but sometimes the frame can also be damaged. Accidental damage is not covered under the manufacturers warranty but we can replace cracked lenses and have a discounted replacement program for when the frame has been damaged. Simply send us an email with an image of the damaged lens or glasses and we’ll provide instructions and a quote for the replacement. These services apply to eyewear purchased from Uniqa Medical only.

Accessories for Lead Glasses

We provide a number of accessories with each order of protective lead eyewear, this includes:

  • Protective hard case
  • Head strap
  • Microfibre pouch/cleaning cloth
  • Anti-Fog Refresh solution for lenses with the ARCFF coating
